For children ages 5–9 | Offered during the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass
** Coming soon to the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass **
Our Children’s Liturgy of the Word program offers a welcoming and age-appropriate way for young children to learn and engage with the Sunday Mass and grow in their understanding of God’s Word.
Currently, this program is offered during the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and runs through the end of June each year, resuming in September. Plans are underway to begin offering the program at the 9:00 a.m. Mass as additional volunteers become available.
At the start of Mass, the priest invites children ages 5 to 9 to come forward. They are then led to the chapel where, using the Lectionary of the Word for children, they:
· Hear an age-adapted form of the First or Second Reading and the Gospel
· Sing the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation
· Hear and participate in a Gospel Reflection to help them understand the message of the readings
· Share their thoughts and participate in discussion
· Sing hymns and pray together
Children return to their families in the main church before the Offertory, rejoining the Mass with a deeper connection to the Scripture they’ve just experienced.
One-time registration and completion of the diocesan Consent Form are required for participation. All children in the age group are welcome to take part. Children under the age of 5 may join with a parent or guardian.
To register your child, please complete the Registration Form below. Before submitting, be sure to download, complete, and upload the required Consent Form.
More volunteers are always needed to help run this program. If you’re interested in volunteering your time, please email us at the address below or fill out the Ministry Sign-up Form which can be found by clicking here.
