The Pastoral Care ministry is an unconditional caring response to parishioners who are isolated due to illness, disability or bereavement. We do this, in part, by bringing the Eucharist, Mass and a kindly presence to those who are homebound or in health care facilities.
Our trained volunteers assist our priests by providing:
- • Eucharistic ministry to the sick, terminally ill, and homebound members of our Parish.
- • Bi-weekly Mass at AgeCare Glenmore long-term care facility on 90th Avenue SW.
- • Eucharistic and visitation ministry to identified Catholic parishioners at Carewest Glenmore Park.
- • Monthly Mass and weekly Eucharist to identified Catholic residents at Chateau Renoir Retirement Home.
- • Bereavement support to parishioners who are grieving the death of a loved one.
- • Eucharistic and visitation ministry to identified Catholic patients at Rockyview Hospital.
- • Help with annual celebrations of the Mass for All Souls (November 2) and World Day of the Sick (on or about February 11)
We welcome new volunteers in any of these aspects of Pastoral Care. Training courses are provided by the Diocese.
It is important to note that our hospitals and CareWest facilities no longer provide names and room numbers of Catholic patients to our Pastoral Care Team. It is therefore incumbent on families and individuals to call our Parish Office in order to request pastoral visits and Eucharist outside the Church building.
To learn more about our Pastoral Care Team’s mission, the various types of support we offer, and how you can get involved, we encourage you to visit our dedicated Pastoral Care webpage under the Parish Life menu for comprehensive information and valuable resources.
Please feel free to contact the Parish Office at anytime during office hours (Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) with any questions or to talk about options for Pastoral Care for yourself or your loved ones. In case of emergency or imminent death, you can call the Parish Office at 403-251-3381 or contact the Pastoral Care Coordinator below.
