“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the
weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'”
Acts 20:35
As we journey together in faith and service, our parish community is blessed to support a variety of charitable organizations and programs that reflect our commitment to love and serve others.
Refugee Family Program
A significant initiative is our sponsorship of a refugee family originally from Iran, who relocated to Calgary from Turkey in May 2024. We are committed (gladly) to cover their living expenses for one year while they pursue education and settle in to begin their new life in Canada; their tuition is covered by Immigration Services. However, as of September 30, 2024, we face a deficit of over $11,000 for this program and are seeking donations and ongoing support.
If you can help, please make cheques payable to “Holy Spirit Parish” with a memo indicating your donation is for the Refugee Family sponsorship program. Place the cheque into an envelope marked ‘Refugee Family’ and drop it into the collection basket during Mass or the wooden offering box beside the Bulletin Board under the tv in the Gathering area.
For other giving methods, including e-Transfer and online donations, visit our ‘How to Give’ webpage OR click the ‘Donate Online Now’ button at the bottom of this webpage. Select ‘4 – Refugee Family’ from the CanadaHelps drop-down menu to complete your transaction.
